He
worked for the Winnipeg Post Office, as a clerk and as a letter carrier,
until 1960. Then he took teacher training and taught school until the
time of his marriage with Norah. At the age of 38 he started university
studies during the summer session and evening classes. In 1963 he received
his B.A. Degree from the University of Manitoba followed by his B. Ed.
Degree in 1965. The M.A. Degree in German drama followed in 1973.He
also took up French studies and met Norah Bradley at Laval University,
Quebec, where she was also studying French, in 1974. To continue with
his French studies, he spent the next year at the University of Paris,
France. In 1976 he and Norah were married and continued their French
studies by spending one year at the University of Manitoba and one year
at the University of Paris. It was a unique way to begin married life.
Later Daniel diversified and studied Latin and Greek literature until
he had to spend all his time with Norah, who had developed Alzheimer
Disease.
